A lot of what I write about for this blog is aimed at doing marketing work online yourself. I always believe that its possible to learn and succeed with the right support and information available to you. That said, sometimes you just don’t want or need a personal or in-house solution. You want to hire a good company to do your marketing for you. With that in mind, I’m presenting to you a list of the top social marketing firms available today.
Most of this data comes from TopSEOs.com, a site that specializes in ranking marketing firms through various sets of impartial criteria.
Based in Camden, New Jersey, this company was founded in 2008 and has proven itself to be perhaps the best and most reliable social marketing firm available. They have over 250 active clients, including Aeropostale, Marriott, and DirectTV. They do PPC, SEO and landing page optimization in addition to social marketing.
A firm based in Huntington, New York, this company is a year older than WebiMax, founded in 2007. Their prices are lower in general, though they don’t focus on landing pages as much. Clients include Mrs. Fields and Edwards Jones. Their emphasis on local SEO puts them near the top of the list.
Founded in 2009, Boostability is based in Lei, Utah, and has a massive client list of over 7,500 businesses. Among their notable clients are Fieldstone Homes, Alagria Shoes, and Artbeats. In addition to their social media and SEO services, they offer web development and enterprise-level SEO solutions.
Customer Magnetism is one of the oldest firms on this list, founded in 2000. They tend to have a smaller client list than other firms, though, because they focus almost exclusively on enterprise solutions rather than services for small businesses. Clients of note include Sallie Mae, Volvo, and the Dollar Tree. They’re based in Virginia Beach.
Based in San Jose, California, VJG was founded in 2006 and has accrued a client list of over 200 companies, including noteworthy groups like ACE Hardware and Subway. In addition to SEO and social services, they do reputation management, web development, and PPC advertising.
Not to be confused with Mint, the financial managing software, Mint Social is based in Scottsdale Arizona and was founded all the way back in 1998. Despite their age, they have a very small clients list, which they keep confidential. They offer reputation management services as well, which rationalizes the hidden client list.
Subtitling themselves Integrated Marketing Solutions, this company was founded in 2006 and is based out of Chicago. They’re the first company on this list to explicitly offer video SEO. Their client list includes over 1,500 names, including many hospitality sector businesses like Best Western, Hampton Inn and Quality Inn.
Based in Nashua New Hampshire, SearchPro was founded in 2006 and has grown slowly. They have a small team of 15 employees and only list 175 clients, ranging from New England Investments to Red Brick Clothing. Their services include social marketing, SEO and video SEO, though you will find their attention limited if you’re not relatively local to their home base.
This company was founded in 2003 and is based in Culver City, California. They’re another large company with over 2,000 clients, mostly in the health, fitness, and food sectors. Such clients include Equinox Fitness and Pacific Sports Health Management. You can find additional services with local SEO and PPC through their company.
Based in Idaho Falls, Netmark was founded in 2007 and does social marketing for a number of high profile clients, including Hallmark and Experian, one of the major credit reporting agencies. They don’t offer much beyond basic SEO, social and PPC marketing, but their services are top-notch.
Founded in 2009 in West Palm Beach, this company has a small staff, a small number of clients, and relatively high prices. However, you get an all-in-one package for the costs; SEO, social marketing, local SEO, web design and the works. With such a small clients list, it’s not uncommon to see names like Jewels and Jupiter Fitness Center present.
Founded in 2004 in Brooklyn, this company is very small, with less than ten employees. They offer high quality service, but take a hit in the rankings due to sometimes slow response times. That said, they work with a lot of local NYC businesses, and fittingly enough specialize in local SEO in addition to their social marketing prowess.
A 2012 company, NH is one of the more recent and one of the more localized companies on this list. They uniquely have a 100% customer retention rate, but the primary reason for this is their local touch. They’re located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and they work exclusively with clients from the area.
NAB hails from Saint Louis Missouri, an was also founded in 2012. They’re another small company, with a very small client list, which they keep confidential. They show high prices, too, which makes it all the more interesting. They’re also one of the few companies on this list that advertise their proficiency with mobile marketing.
This company works with local SEO, link building, SEO in general, and of course social media marketing. They don’t have a huge clients list, but it includes a lot of mid-range businesses, like Celinder Glass Designs and Vision Garage Flooring. They were founded in 2007 an are based in Irvine, California.
This company is based in Duluth Minnesota, and was founded in 2006. With only 89 clients, their annual revenue of over a million dollars indicates a high level of quality for a premium price.ZMC Hotels is one of their clients, as is Thralow Inc. They serve as an all-in-one solution for social marketing, SEO, PPC, and integrated search marketing.
Based in Chatsworth California, BizDetox was founded in 2012 an is another one of the small specialist companies on the list. They serve clients like Carousel Restaurant, Kiss of Silver, and the University of Restaurant Marketing. In addition to social marketing, they do SEO and web design.
This company was founded in 2005 and has a small team of under 10 people, yet manages over 60 clients for an annual revenue of over a million. Their client list is, again, confidential. They offer both SEO/social marketing and web design, as well as mobile marketing. They’re based in Alexandria, Virginia.
This particular company was founded in 2000 in the La Crescenta area of California. With 100+ clients, including Closet World, Blindsworld, and Precise Air Systems, they seem to work primarily with housing and design companies. They do PPC and SEO in addition to social media marketing.
SearchXcel
Based out of Jacksonville Florida, this company was founded in 2008 and has a number of varied clients, ranging from Swamp Rentals to Microsoft Expression Engine. They focus on local SEO and web design as well as social marketing. They’ve proven to be a cheap local option for various clients.
Based in San Francisco, this company was founded in 2004 and is another one of the small teams with numerous clients. Hotelogix and Hotel Clarion are prominent clients. They do PPC and SEO as well as social, and though they have a small team, they satisfy most of their clients.
Unique among social marketers on this list, this Orlando-based company eschews the traditional SEO and PPC marketing in favor of making itself an affiliate manager. They work with Ripley’s Believe it or Not, as well as Publisher’s Clearing House. They were founded in 2005 and have a relatively small team.
Founded by Byron White in Boston, IdeaLaunch is one of several ventures with interconnected services. They offer SEO and social marketing, as well as copywriting through their partner venture WriterAccess. Clients include MERCK, Capital One, and WalMart.
DragonflySEO
Operating out of Baltimore, Maryland, this company came about in 2007 and has maintained a small but dedicated customer base. They’ve worked with RWI America, Potomac View Energy, and other companies in the area. In addition to the standard services, they offer link building on the side.
Interlude
This list is getting long and repetitive, so I figured I’d break it up here by giving you a little advice when working with social managers. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that even though this list includes 50 entries, it’s still a tiny fraction of the number of companies that exist. Chances are very few of the companies on this list will be within your price range or offer all the services you want.
Ideally, you will look into local companies you can work with directly. It’s always a hassle communicating effectively with companies in different time zones, even though the Internet is a great facilitator.
Feel free to explore these companies and see if any of them work for you. If not, don’t be discouraged; many companies out there have excellent services and are only left off this list because they aren’t high profile enough to be noticed across the nation.

Crea7ive Interactive Advertising
This company hails out of Coral Springs, Florida, and has worked with h20 Spring Water, Disney by Heys, and Bagelfuls. Perhaps not the most illustrious client list, but they’re doing well enough.
This company, based in Olathe Kansas, has worked with Overstock dot com and specializes in enterprise-level SEO.
A personal named and personal-level company with only 10 employees, this Prescott, Arizona business works with a number of medical and alternative medicine professionals.
Based in Houston, SSD works with a lot of tech and utility companies. They specifically call out Facebook and LinkedIn marketing, as well as PPC in their profile.
In Provo, Utah, this company works as a mid-priced social marketer and PPC manager with NordicTrack, Jordan Camper, and Stylemetrics.
Based in Denver – as you might guess from the name – this company has a 200-business client list, including Subway, HP, and the Salvation Army.
Based in Boca Raton Florida, this is one of the highest priced companies on this list, with an annual revenue of over ten million. Among the clients on their list? Disney.
One of the only non-USA companies on this list, 4 Web Marketing is based in Scarborough Beach, Australia, and fittingly works with a bunch of companies in AUS.
Based in Tampa Florida, this company is another entry with a confidential client list. They have high grades for customer retention, though they don’t excel like many of the higher ranked companies on the list.
Named after the puzzle concept, not the movie villain, this company is based in Woodland Hills California and works with a closely-guarded secret list of clients.
Based in Bangor, this company is one of the best local SEO agencies in the state of Maine. They specialize in local businesses, fittingly enough, and their knowledge of the area puts them ahead of outside competition.
OrangeSoda
One of the largest companies on this list, with a revenue of over ten million, over 100 staff members and over 1,000 clients, this company is based in Utah and works with a wide range of companies for a wide range of services.
Brand Advance
Based in Orlando, this company has worked with GroupTable and PBWorks, as well as 40-something other clients. They work with PPC and web design as well as marketing.
No, the hyphen is not misplaced; Agent-cy is a New York firm specializing in reputation management, of which social media marketing is a huge part. They’ve worked with City Lights Cruises, Ivan Expert Consulting and Diamond International, among others.
Another company in California, this time from Encinitas, there’s not much information to be had about their client list or their pricing. You’ll have to contact them yourself to learn more about their services.
Based in San Diego, this company has been around since 1999 and has worked with Aramark, Megapath, Bumble Bee Foods and the Fresh Market. They do web design, PPC, SEO, social; everything you could need.
Based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, this company is what is quickly becoming the standard for marketing agencies, offering PPC, SEO, social, and other marketing services.
The second-oldest company on this list, founded in 1997, they have worked with a wide range of companies across a variety of industries in the eighteen years since they began operating. Social is almost as new to them as it is to you, but they excel at it.
Based in Miami, this company named itself after the wrong ocean, but that doesn’t seem to matter to their clients, which include KFC and others. They offer conversion optimization as an additional service beyond traditional marketing offerings.
Based in Traverse City, Michigan, this is the oldest company on the list having been founded in 1996. They have an exclusive clients list that includes Huntington National Bank, Auto Owners Insurance, and Maritz.
Pulse Media Solutions
Another company based in Traverse City, this company is almost the polar opposite, specializing in local Michigan companies like Grand Traverse Area Hospitality and the Grand Traverse Metro Emergency Services Authority.
Based in San Francisco, this company has worked with industry giants like Sony, Intel, and GM. They specialize in Video SEO, including the use of video on social media.
Last but not least, this company has a small staff and a moderate client list, including New Horizon Publishing and Last Well Movement.

Founded in 2000, this company has a name – and a website design – that look like they haven’t been updated since. This hides a small but tenacious Canadian marketing firm with a very small client list that includes Kumsheen Raft Adventures, SkyNet Security, and PBP Logistics. They excel at personalized service, and have connections for high quality press release distribution.
